biography
Born in New Cross, London, Phil entered the music profession at the tender age of 15. He has gained enormous experience working world-wide in all aspects of the music industry - cruise ships - hotels - theatre- cabaret clubs - recording studios - radio and television and many other types of venue.
Well-known as a competent and sensitive accompanist, Phil worked with many 'name' artistes in theatre and cabaret venues as Musical Director, including the famous Raffles Hotel Theatre, Singapore.
In addition to his enormous repertoire of commercial music, he is also a fine Jazz musician with a considerable following of 'fans' who enjoy his inimitable style of melodic and listenable Modern Jazz. His current 'combo' PHIL SHAPIRO AN' ALL THAT JAZZ!! appears regularly at many West Midlands and Birmingham Jazz venues as well as further afield. His current CD, 'NOW'S THE TIME' is played enthusiastically on featured Jazz programs by many radio stations throughout the UK and he is already planning his next CD, 'INSPIRATION'
